Pairing Art and Wine December 09- A performance of Wine, Cheese and Artistic Expression------------------------
Yelp review- Nora H, Brooklyn,  1/9/2010
Wendy was the surprise guest at a really wonderful party. She researched all of the artists who were attending that evening and created wine pairings to go with each person's artwork. Not only were the wines delicious, but Wendy's thoughtful and creative approach made for a remarkable, insightful, and delicious night that we are still talking about.

Mother Daughter Wine Tasting-----------------
Wendy,
Do you remember our Mother-daughter weekend when we joined for the Portuguese wine tasting? We raved so much about it that our husbands would like to try a similar event. We will be in NY Jan. 15 and 16th.  Do you have anything going on that weekend?
Thanks again,
Barbara

Wendy Crispell provided a balance of education with relaxation. Her knowledge and passion for wines is obvious. The yacht was cozy and comfortable with just the right amount of people to have interaction, yet, not feel a part of a crowd. Of course, the sites of NY from the water are beautiful! THANKS!

Great experience, from beginning to end. Wendy was informative and friendly. The pairings were exceptional and perfectly timed to provide continuous activity throughout the cruise. I would recommend this tasting to everyone, and intend on taking guests who will be visiting with me over the summer.

Housewarming Wine Tasting Albany June 2009--------------------------------
Thank you so much for hosting  our housewarming wine event. The tapas were creative and tasty and complemented the wines served. The wine selection was incredible! Also thank you so much for finding a great Hungarian wine for us as we requested. We are still getting emails 2 weeks later from guests! Even our wine friend that works for a major distributor commented how great it was!

Private Cellar Tasting Hudson Valley July 2009-----------------------------------------
Hi Wendy,
Everyone had a wonderful time at the private tasting!. They sent me emails Monday saying how much they enjoyed it. As always, you do a fabulous job so we have to thank you. It was a really fun day for all of us.
My future in laws went out and purchased a wine refrigerator for all their wine. So as you can see they loved it! :)
Keep me updated on events you hold.
Thanks again!

EDIBLE MANHATTAN PREMIER ISSUE SEPTEMBER 2008
Featured as "Edible Notable" for New York State of Wine 101, tasting series

It Ain't Your Mother's Circle Line

Call it the Locavore Love Boat for Lushes.
Wendy Crispell runs two-hour vino-soaked cruises around the lovely Isle of Manhattan and has set her sights on other parts of the state. Not that she’s taking partyers there, though the Erie Canal could make a fascinating pleasure cruise. Rather, her upcoming autumn equinox evening aboard the 80-foot, 20s-era yacht christened with the same name as this magazine (minus the “Edible”), will feature all Empire-state wines. Feeling lost at sea when it comes to the local pour? Crispell will navigate adrift oenophiles through stars from the Hudson River Valley including Benmarl’s 2007 Traminette (a cross of gewürztraminer and seyval blanc) and Millbrook’s Long Island–sourced 2006 cabernet franc. “There will probably be a couple of Finger Lakes wines as well,” says Crispell, who is a diploma candidate at the prestigious Wine & Sprit Education Trust
program and who pairs the local vino with tapas-style nibbles. “I always like to add a few surprises.” —AZ & BH

The September 22 event, which leaves promptly at 6:30 p.m. from Pier 59 at the Chelsea Piers, costs $85. www.sail-nyc.com

Private Wine Pairing Dinner in The Hudson Valley
An Extraordinary Evening -Review

Tired of the usual bachelorette parties, the ones where you go into New York City, get drunk and dance on a bar? My girlfriends and I decided to plan an intimate dinner for 5 complete with a specialty wine pairing, just the bride and the bridesmaids.

As we walked up to the winery, the white lights illuminated the rustic winery, where we would have our dinner. The door was open, beckoning us in. We entered to find a small table set in the tasting room, right in front of a wood burning stove, which fortunately was not burning given the unseasonably balmy weather we were having.

The lights were dimmed and white lights twinkled about the room. Our host, Wendy, a food and wine pairing expert, greeted us. She would escort our taste-buds on a fanciful flight through the evening.

She offered us sparkling wine to start, but not wanting to seem too anxious and a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of the meal ahead of us, we accepted water. Wendy explained the menu and returned to the kitchen.

The next time she appeared, she served shrimp, stuffed with gorgonzola cheese, wrapped in pancetta and filo dough. She opened the sparking wine, announcing that it was a chardonnay based sparkling wine. I thought to myself (knowing my friends were thinking the same thing), but I don’t drink chardonnay. The sparkling chardonnay was light and crisp, nothing like the traditional buttery oaky chardonnays that leave a coating in your mouth. We dug in, eating and drinking every last bite, fearful of wasting any of the delightful combination.

Next, Wendy served a salad topped with panko crusted goat cheese and a muscat wine. The muscat was fruity with hints of orange and tangerine. It complimented the goat cheese fabulously. After, again, cleaning our plates and emptying our glasses, and yes, re-filling our glasses with the bottle that Wendy was kind enough to leave behind, we eased into our chairs and our conversation.

Wendy  brought out the main course: chicken in a buttery sauce with spinach, potatoes, carrots and squash, and the crus de gras of this course was the baco noir, a light to medium bodied peppery wine with hints of red cherry.

As the evening went on, my girlfriends and I glanced at each other in delight. The twinkling lights added to the magic of the evening. Never once did we wish that we were in the City on top of a bar.

The molten chocolate cake with raspberry sauce served with Cassis, a sweet dessert wine, with hints of raspberries was the perfect and decadent end to the evening.

As we walked to our car, one of my girlfriends commented that it was the best meal that she ever had. Not to offend my mother, but I think I have to agree.
